Why News broadcasting?
Because it’s a fast-paced exciting profession. I began my working life in the engineering field, and though very important it’s a career that never really gave me the fulfilment I get from journalism.
Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
On BBC Newsroom South East, and ITV’s London Tonight programme.
What is your Best on-air moment?
Possibly reporting live from Heathrow airport as Concorde prepared to fly off for the last time. It was a truly exciting time, especially when it took off directly over our heads. The ground was literally shaking.
What is your Worst on-air moment?
Without going into details – using a cliché in a live and getting it wrong. The lesson was never use clichés, and if you do – never get them wrong because everyone knows you’ve made a mistake.
What would you like to do before your career ends?
Win a major national award to add to my collection of regional ones. I’m not award-obsessed but being recognised by your piers is the best accolade you can get.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Walking, reading, socialising.
What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Be prepared to work extremly hard and Here you take the most intimate criticism of your work.
A big thanks to Andrew for taking part.
